You Are Important Too

So many reasons to take care of yourself! Why is it that many of you think you should always place your health and wellbeing at the bottom of the totem pole?

You’ve probably heard that when a mom and her child are going through a sudden drop on a plane, the mom is supposed to put the oxygen mask on before she puts on child. There is a reason for that, and it isn’t a selfish one. If she doesn’t have enough air, she will not be able to take care of her child.

Take the time to do the things you need to do for “you”, or “the you” that always does for others first, will either be ill or gone.

For some reason we have been made to feel guilty for just “taking the time to breathe” for a moment.

Growing up, I was referred to as a “Preacher’s Kid”. Along with that came a side of guilt if our family was not ALWAYS doing for other folks or doing what others thought we should/shouldn’t be doing. This is not to say everyone in the church had this mindset, but our parents never wanted us to ever be in question.

It took me a minute to shake this guilt thing. I had to come to realize, that who I am isn’t up to other people. My identity comes from God. I am pretty dang important to Him. I was bought with a price. I belong to Him.

My body is where He resides, and I should take care of it physically and mentally. When I do, I am in a much better frame of mind to help and love on those around me.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 GNT

[19] Don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; [20] he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God's glory. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
