The Reward of Peace

What some folks wouldn’t give for just a moment of peace in their lives. The turmoil that they face every day is more than many of us could even handle.

And you know what? When we try to handle those difficult times alone…we can’t have true peace. We need something bigger than ourselves to give us what we seek. We need our Father working on the inside of us giving us peace.

No matter what is going on around us, we can have peace. Our strength is not dependent on what “we” can do, but on what “He” can do through us.

The refrain of an old hymn…

“Peace, peace! wonderful peace,

Coming down from the Father above,

Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,

In fathomless billows of love.”

I like the way it says, “sweep over my spirit”. I think of sitting out in my rocker on my front porch and a cool breeze blowing across my face. How peaceful can you get?

Let that kind of peace sweep over you. When you do what the Lord wants you to do, you are rewarded with that kind of peace. A peace that sweeps over you and gives you courage to face anything.

2 Chronicles 15:7 NLT
