Oh Yes, I Can

As kids we used to hear the ditty, “Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything better than you. ‘No, you can’t’. ‘Yes, I can’…and so forth”. I’m not quite sure what they were referring to in it other than being better. It could have been a way of building self-esteem, who knows.
I always felt it was a bit harsh to be building yourself up at the expense of tearing down someone else. But maybe that’s just me.
There is, though, a time and place for this rhetoric when it comes to the tricky, evil, roaring lion of a devil. There is nothing, do you hear what I’m saying…NOTHING he can attack you with that you can’t stand against. You have the “better” “greater” One living inside of you. Just stir up that “strong” “vigorous” faith and resist him.
When he says you can’t do something and is playing out scary scenarios in your head…say, “Oh yes, I can. Stay back and watch me. ‘Anything you can do; I can do better’ through the power that lives within me.” The devil may think he is a roaring lion, but you have the Lion of Judah on your side.
1 Peter 5:8-9a TPT
[8] Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour. [9a] Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
