Leave It Alone

I’m sure you remember when Moses lifted the staff and the Red Sea parted so that the Israelites could cross on dry land. If nothing else, you remember Charlton Heston playing the role of Moses in the old movie. Do ya know what God (through Moses) actually told them prior to that incident?

They were doing their thing that they tended to do often, complaining. Running off at the mouth, so to speak. And Moses said in the Message translation, “shut your mouths”. He also told them that the Lord would fight their battles.

Their biggest problem was not the Red Sea or the Egyptians chasing after them. It was what came out of their mouths. They would get all excited and agitated and start saying crazy things. They didn’t know how (as momma used to say) to “leave well enough alone”.

Can you see yourself in the actions of the Israelites? Do you talk when you should be believing and listening? We would all do well to “leave it alone” and “keep our mouths shut” if all we are gonna do is complain.

Believe God is at work in our lives. Stay calm, quit complaining and listen up.
