Do Not Approach

Have you ever seen those T-shirts that say “not friendly, do not approach” on them? What they are saying in a sarcastic way is “don’t get too close to me” … indicating their disposition at the moment is less than desirable. It could mean they haven’t had their coffee yet or maybe they are not interested in having you step into their world. (Kind of like some Chihuahuas)

It got me to thinking how this should be the way we are with the devil. “Do not approach”!

Years ago, I had a Chihuahua named Billy who was supposed to be for one of my boys but ended up attaching to me. He would yap and snap at anyone trying to get near me. Everyone learned his “love (yap) language” for me was “do not approach”.

Imagine if we would be that way with that liar, the devil. Every time he tries to give you discouraging information about who you are, you say, “do not approach!” “I am God’s masterpiece!” “I am created to do good things!”

Try it the next time those thoughts try to enter your mind. “Yap” at the devil with … “Do not approach!” Inform him of who you are in Christ.
