Humble in the Doing

Being humble. Do you find that difficult? Kids have a way of being okay with that. Think about when a baby begins their journey in this cruel world. They are content to be held and be the smallest in the room.

Granted, they don’t have a choice but to be held and fed and be small. They depend on others to meet those needs. And when those needs aren’t met immediately, they let ya know.

Think about a baby many years ago that was destined to be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He was born in a lowly manger and not in a palace as you would think. As He grew many thought it foolish to listen to a young boy among scholars … but He knew what He was talking about.

“But God chose what the world considers nonsense to put wise people to shame. God chose what the world considers weak to put what is strong to shame.”

The child became the teacher.

We are called to become lowly (humble) as a child in today’s verse. This doesn’t mean you allow folks to walk all over you. What it means is we come to the Lord without any preconceived notions about this or that. We trust and humbly believe that we are not alone in our lives. We have that childlike trust that what He promises He will do.

Matthew 18:4 NLT
