Give Because ...

I can remember being so aggravated at my mom when she would instruct me to do something and I would ask why…she would say, “because I said so!” We as parents sometimes forget that kids have a “need to know” sort of mentality as they are maturing. I know we get busy and don’t want to deal with the “why” questions but sometimes taking that time for explanations is needed. Now if they keep asking why after every answer, then, well, it may be time to say, “you will understand when you are a little older.” Haha.
I want to attempt to answer the biggest “why” many have when it comes to their walk with God. Why should I give my hard-earned money to the Lord?
If I said to you, because I said so and put pressure on you to hand it over, there would just be resentment and absolutely no joy in that. This is a decision that you must make. You decide in your heart to give generously because you know from the scripture that God LOVES a cheerful giver.
What is so cool about this, is, that your giving doesn’t go unnoticed. In response to your willing generosity, you are provided for generously. And the thing is, you are not just provided with what you need. You will have that, plus MORE THAN YOU NEED. You will even have enough that you can share with other folks.
So, as you prepare to give an offering to the Lord, think about your blessings for a few minutes. Stop giving because someone said to and start giving because you want to. Your attitude will start to change and that changes hearts and lives.
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT
[7] You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. "For God loves a person who gives cheerfully." [8] And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
