Be Present

We talk about forgiveness, and we know to say, “we should always forgive.” We are aware that Jesus taught us to do this, and said it was a 70 x 7 kind of thing…not just when you want to deal with it.

What about showing love to someone? Do we just say it and forget it, or do we show it by how we treat them? We should be so aware of this loving aspect of our lives, we show it. We leave no doubt in the other persons mind how much we care. Kind of like that old Beatles tune,

“Eight days a week

I love you.

Eight days a week

Is not enough to show I care.”

The important phrase is to “show I care”. This “showing” isn’t lavishing with gifts or taking to great locations (although these are cool too). It could be just spending some quality time with them in person or over the phone. Being present during that time. I mean focusing in on them, not just what you want to do and say. The conversation doesn’t need to always center around your need to teach or explain your views. Look them in the eyes as they share their heart too.

We are instructed to love each other and show it by our actions.

1 John 3:18 NLT

[18] Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.
