What's in a Name?

When I named my kids, to be honest, I didn’t consider the meaning behind any of their names. I just loved them and added the middle names that either were a reminder of someone, or I just liked the way they rolled off my tongue.
As they grew to toddler age and upwards, those middle names became a signal that mom meant business and they better “straighten up and fly right.” It definitely got their attention. Ha! Those little guys had a way of testing me to see if I truly meant what I said.
I didn’t love them any less when I used their entire name, I wanted them to stop doing the wrong thing for their own sakes. It could save them from harming themselves then or later on.
In most of our lives, we should be hearing God constantly using our middle names to get our attention. We keep walking out in the traffic of the world and testing our limits. God doesn’t want that for us. He wants us to be sure of where we stand with Him.
When we were in school, the teacher would sometimes take down the names of those misbehaving. By doing this, she knew who needed to stay after class and write, “I will behave in class!”, over and over on the blackboard. How much better would have been to be on the other list of those that got to go outside to recess enjoy what the playground had to offer?
I know I am approaching this lighthearted today, but there is nothing lighthearted about knowing which list your name is on in heaven.
Only those whose “names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life” will be allowed in heaven. What’s worse, if your name is not there…Rev 20:15 says, “And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”
It’s so important to “know that you know” you have believed in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, what He did for you on the cross and have invited Him into your life. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Paula Berniece is on the Book of Life list…do you?
Revelation 21:27 NLT
[27] Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty-but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
