My GAR (Give A Rip) Has Swam Away

My dad used to fish on the Mississippi River for many years. During many of those fishing trips he would snag a long nose Gar. They are supposed to be edible, but he never brought one of those home for the family. Instead, he would unhook it and it would swim away. Side note: He also said that they let off air (saying this nicely, ha) and we were like, “ewe”.

“I don’t Give A Rip” is a “dated” way of saying, “you don’t care in the slightest” about something. Young folks may say it differently, but the meaning is same.

As believers, we need to get to the point in our lives where all the crazy stuff that “tries” to rob us of our peace is not just put on the back burner, it is ignored completely. Try as they might, those thieves won’t be able to hurt us (unless we let them) because God is on our side.

Release that GAR and let it swim away. We have OVERWHELMING victory through Christ.
