Getting What is Deserved

I’m just a country gal that has grown up with the word “come-uppins” (I know the real word is comeuppance). I have always heard it associated with how it was time for someone to “get what they deserve”. I’ve even said it a time or two myself. (The country way of course)
Sometimes we just get so angry with a situation that has gone on for far too long and we are ready to see justice of some sort. We should realize that in the wanting for “justice” we are not leaving room for Gods intervening Grace. I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be consequences for wrong behavior, I’m saying it is not our place to mete that out or wish ill on others.
Look at your own life for a second. Think of all the mistakes and wrong steps you have made in your lifetime. What if …just what if you received what you deserved in those instances? I realize, in my own life, I would be in some deep trouble.
But God …
If it wasn’t for God and His amazing grace, I would have no hope of mercy and love. He intervened in my life. I called and He answered.
We should want that for other people. Sure, the things they have gotten so caught up in is wrong, and there will be consequences … but how that plays out is not for us to decide. We should pray for an intervention of Godly proportions in their lives. Maybe you have a hard time believing this, but God loves everyone. Even the “shady characters”. Let’s pray that they see their need and call on God before it is too late.
Proverbs 4:23,27 NLT
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. [27] Don't get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
