Jesus and the Morning Light

The words in today’s scripture are from Zechariah, John the Baptist father. He spoke them when it was time for the circumcision ceremony of his son and giving him the name of John instead of what was expected (Zechariah after his father).
I love the fact that this man didn’t do something just because it was what some expected him to do. Instead, he remembered his encounter with the angel Gabriel all those months prior and did as he knew he should. His son would be John and would point others to someone far greater than Him.
The one I am talking about is Jesus. John would point others to the one that would be the morning light from heaven and would give light to those in darkness and dying. He would give a path to peace.
Isn’t that what we all want? We all want to wake up in the light each morning knowing we are on the right path. We don’t want to do things out of the expectations of others, but out of a fierce desire to please God. We recognize that our light ultimately comes from knowing Jesus.
We want to be loved and be able to face every obstacle as an opportunity to make a lasting mark in this world. A mark that points others to something far greater than themselves. They no longer have to be “down and out.” They can be, if they choose to be, “up and up.”
Luke 1:78-79 NLT
[78] Because of God's tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, [79] to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace." #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
