Find Your Safe Place

As a little girl growing up in a loving family, I always felt my safest when I was with them. Even if it was somewhat dysfunctional at times, as a little tow-headed blue-eyed girl, that part didn’t matter so much at the time. The love and safety of my parents and siblings was what mattered most.

Before you get all up in your judgment about dysfunction, know that there is a little of that flowing through most all families (some are just a little better at covering it up. Ha) What mattered most to little Paula was her sense of security. She knew she was loved and protected.

As it turns out, because I knew who loved me and kept me safe; because they taught me about the love and safety of God…I grew into a pretty well-balanced adult. Not perfect, but one that is responsible and loves Jesus. I have no doubts about how much Jesus loves me.

Both physical wellbeing and emotional wellbeing are needed for all of us, not just as children, but as adults. I’ve read of abuse cases where that was stolen from children and when they grew into adults, they continued the pattern. It makes me shudder to think about what some have gone through in their lives that affected them so deeply.

I want to encourage each of you, regardless of your upbringing, to believe you are valued and loved. It may not “feel” like it at times (or maybe even this very moment), but you are.

Find your safe place in the Lord Jesus. You can trust Him. Know your worth in His eyes. Make today’s verse your very own declaration.

Psalm 91:2 NLT

[2] This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
