Cherish Your Children

As I grow older, the love I have for my children and grandchildren grows with me. It’s hard to believe I am at this stage in life where I look back at times past and wish I had a little bit of the child rearing days back. Then I come to my senses. Haha. But I do miss those special years.

I realize that what I was doing then was preparing them for the life they have now. Did I do it all to perfection? Goodness no. Did I try? Again yes. Does them growing into adults change the fact that I still cherish them and love them with the deepest part of my heart? NO

Wherever you are right now in your life with your kids is where you are. I know that’s a redundant statement but think about it. You don’t have a “go back” button or a “go forward” button to take you magically to a place where things are where you want them. You have RIGHT NOW. Cherish them where you’re at right now. Make sure they know how you feel with the big and small things of life. Be available when they need you. Your love and concern have no ending date.

May all you do be done to guide them in the right way … the “way of the Master”. Our verse today is directed to fathers but could just as easily be written for moms.
