James 1:21 GNT

[21] So get rid of every filthy habit and all wicked conduct. Submit to God and accept the word that he plants in your hearts, which is able to save you.

The translation from the GNT says it better than I could: Get rid of every filthy habit!

If you have ever been around something or someone that is so filthy that (as mom would say) “stinks to high heaven”, then that is the picture here of horrible habits. If that stinky person showers and puts back on the same foul-smelling clothes, then … well … they will still “stink to high heaven “.

It takes pushing aside and getting rid of the old (including the old habits you wore) and starting the new.

Renew your mind and start new habits. Submit to God and those seeds He plants will produce a wealth of good habits.
