When You're Smiling...

Remember that old song that says, “when you’re smiling, the whole world smiles with you”? There needs to be another verse that says, “when you’ve cranky and always finding fault with everything, the whole world avoids your company!”
I mean really…who enjoys time with someone who is always a “Debbie-Downer”? The air is just sucked out of the room when they open their mouth.
If that is you, maybe you haven’t even realized how your attitude affects others. That negative approach to life is pushing people away instead of drawing them into a deeper relationship.
It all boils down to how you think.
Today’s verse gives us a “fix” to a bad attitude that causes negative reactions to everything. You should “fix” (keep or focus) your mind on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
This way of thinking will affect your doing! It will help you to begin to see those silver linings in everyday occasions. You will begin to smile more and complain less. You may even laugh a little!
Another part of the song says, “when you’ve laughin’, the sun comes shining through.” Give the sun (and the Son) a chance to shine on your life.
Philippians 4:8 NLT
[8] And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
