Reflections of Your Heart

When toddlers are learning to put sentences together, sometimes they will revert back to “pointing and grunting” instead of “saying what they are wanting”. As parents, instead of giving in and giving them what we know they are wanting, we more than likely say to them, “Use your words”. This is how they learn to express themselves in a respectful and useful manner. To get what their little hearts want at the moment, they have to request it with words that reflect that desire in the right way.
We are not toddlers searching for the correct words. We are adults that still sometimes search for the right words to express what’s in our hearts. The question is, “what’s in there?”
Our scripture tells us what should be in our hearts…what we think about… “the meditation of our heart”. This refers to the internal thoughts, reflections, and attitudes that form the core of our being. That’s just a fancy way of saying…what you think about the most.
What you think about should be pleasing to the Lord. Your words will then reflect a heart that communicates truth, honesty and faith…a heart full of praise for your Rock and Redeemer.
Use your words in a way that reflect gratitude and love.
Psalm 19:14 NLT
[14] May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
