James 1:22 GNT
[22] Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice.
How often have you listened to a great sermon and thought “that was really good!”? You may have even gone so far as to tell your pastor “Good sermon Pastor!” Then you go on about your week and give no more thought about being the hands and feet of Jesus.
We’ve got to get past just listening to good teaching. It’s time (actually way past time) to put God’s Word into practice. The King James Version says to be doers of the word and not hearers only.
What could you do for those you love, your family, your neighbor, your coworkers, parents of your kids' friends, the checkout person…or the many others you come into contact with daily?
Maybe someone you know would enjoy a meal they don’t have to prepare. Nothing fancy.
It doesn’t have to cost anything but your time. It could be a phone call or a visit. It could be just being kind to the person at the register or the waitress or your family.
Put what you have been taught into practice. Be a doer.
Get creative!
Doing for others is not just something the Bible says to do…it makes you feel good.
