A Clean Heart

Many years ago, when my dad was pastoring churches in the bootheel of Missouri, we would have revival services that would last a week or longer. It was a time of refreshing and a time to reflect on how you were in your relationship with the Lord. The visiting preacher would normally stay in our home, and we would see him in a home setting, not just a church setting. What I remember is how he would sit around with my dad and tell awesome stories and you got to see how he lived for Jesus outside of standing behind the pulpit.

Some would attend these types of services and make commitments to be better and live better. This is good right? It can be, if a true change in the heart has taken place. If not, they will go back into the world setting and get right back into the routine of life ignoring how God wants things done.

The scriptures for today should be our prayer. We should desire a clean “revived” and repentant heart that is willing to obey the Lord in all things and in all settings.

May you feel this today and follow through with the revival of your heart.

Psalm 51:10,12,17 NLT
