“I’m just like my______” (fill in the blank). Many will say “my dad” or “my mom”. We do have characteristics that follow us into adulthood. What we have to ask ourselves, “How am I going to use those to my benefit or to my detriment?”

If you had a great upbringing and your family made sure you knew about Jesus, that’s amazing. But if you didn’t see them exhibit the fruits of the spirit in their daily life, then that has had an effect on you as well. As kids and teens, we tend to imitate what we see our parents and siblings do.

Many of us have our own families now (in different stages of our lives). We live our lives in this family having brought ourselves out of the previous family with both good and not so good baggage. Trying to navigate the “day to date” and meshing two backgrounds can be a challenge.

We develop friendships as we age. A lot of those folks actually begin to feel like family. Some you have for life, and some go in and out of your life over the years. Friends have the greatest influence on us next to our flesh and blood.

If you have become a part of God’s family, you now have His Spirit to help you to be a changed person. You don’t need to revisit your old ways of being and doing. Now YOUR influence can help all of your family. (All forms of family) Embrace the new and be consistent in your influence.

Romans 12:2 TLB

[2] Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you. #helpforyourdailywalk #paulaandthebible
