Do ya ever try and try and still can’t seem to get it quite right?
I am reading the Bible through chronologically this year and boy…the law was tough. The Israelites had to make sacrifices for so many things. As I’m reading it, I’m thinking to myself, “What if they miss something?”
I know they needed the law back then or their lives would have been ridiculously out of control. I think I would have been afraid most of the time. Did I do enough? Did I miss doing something important? Did I sacrifice the best we had or was there a better one I may have missed? (That same fear that got Job in trouble)
The law required to some extent perfection, or you were toast. It was important to know and understand it all. It all depended on you to be and do it right.
But… (thankful for that word today). But, because of what Christ did for us, we no longer have to fear doing enough. He became the curse for us, so we no longer had to be slaves to our sins.
So now as we believe and accept what He did for us…His blessing (not cursing or being a slave) is ours. Our perfection is found in Him.
(I know it is a long scripture reading, but so good)
Galatians 3:13-14 TLB
[13] But Christ has bought us out from under the doom of that impossible system by taking the curse for our wrongdoing upon himself. For it is written in the Scripture, "Anyone who is hanged on a tree is cursed" (as Jesus was hung upon a wooden cross). [14] Now God can bless the Gentiles, too, with this same blessing he promised to Abraham; and all of us as Christians can have the promised Holy Spirit through this faith.
