When You Remember

Those memories we have in our heart and mind of those gone before us can be such a powerful reminder of how blessed we are.

Today I listened to a short video of my brother sharing the message of Jesus on Facebook during the pandemic. Hearing his voice again made my eyes leak a little and brought back memories that only he and I share.

Being his baby sister put me in a unique position to see him in a different light … one that was so special.

I am the only one that had the opportunity of sharing in his teen years while we were still at home. The RCA record club; the late night talks; the double dates; love of music; singing in gospel and folk groups; shaking presents from under the Christmas tree; the community building dances that turned into hiding from the wrath of mom (ha); the burning of the straps in the dumpster; the love we share for Jesus & our families and many more memories that are unique to our sibling friendship.

You have memories that are unique to you and those you have said “so long for now” to. When you remember them, give thanks to God for that special place in your heart they fill. I am so thankful for mom and dad, Linda, Larry and my preacher brother Jimmy. I am blessed and wouldn’t trade my memories of them for anything.

Philippians 1:3,7 NLT

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. [7] …it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart … #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
