What's Your Goliath?

Goliath was a Philistine giant that everyone was afraid to stand up against. Well, everyone with the exception of David. Why would young David be so confident that he could take down this hateful giant warrior?

As a shepherd boy, he had protected the sheep from lions and bears and whatever else tried to attack those under his charge. He told Saul, “The LORD who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!" David made his point to Saul with his words. He made clear that he had confidence in the Lord's protection.

When he approached Goliath, he again used his words to share where his confidence was coming from. “I come to you in the name of the Lord”. He went on to say, “Today the Lord will conquer you and I will kill you and cut off your head!” The battle against Goliath began with the words that David declared. He then took out one of the 5 smooth stones from his shepherd’s bag and did what he came to do.

If you have Jesus in your life, your confidence comes from the Lord. Those things that have become giant and to most seem impossible to conquer, are just smooth steppingstones to what awaits you.

You are not called to kill an actual giant, but you are meant to eliminate those things that keep you from Gods best for you. Think back to how Jesus defeated the devil’s efforts to tempt Him. Did he have to have a “slug-out”? No, he simply used His words. He sent the devil running with what He said, the scripture.

Send the devil away by saying what God says…and believe it. Have confidence and you will claim victory. Use those words to war against whatever comes to tempt you or take you out.

Remember that what is within you is greater than your Goliath.

1 Samuel 17:45 NLT

[45] David replied to the Philistine, "You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Heaven's Armies-the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
