The Truth and Nothing but the Truth

Don’t you think it is a little crazy that when someone takes the witness stand in a courtroom, they have to put their hand on the Bible and say that they swear they will tell the truth?

But we live in a world where truth is hard to find. Knowing who is being straight up with you and who is manipulating the truth to fit their narrative can be exhausting.

Just when you think you can trust your source, you realize they weren’t trustworthy after all. You begin to recognize holes in their stories that just don’t add up. They get tangled up in what they have previously said, because it wasn’t truthful to begin with.

If truth be known, (and that is what we are getting at today) the ones getting tangled up with their lies have to be exhausted as well. How do they keep their story straight, because after all, it was made up from the get-go? Their justification for saying what they do just causes a double deception…what they tell others and what they tell themselves.

The Bible clearly says, “don’t lie to each other”. This instruction didn’t have any exceptions. It doesn’t mention to tell the truth just when your hand is on the Bible in a courtroom. You tell the truth because that is right.

Lying was a part of your nature before Jesus. It refers to it as sinful and wicked. Those are two terms I would never want to be referred to as being.

Colossians 3:9 NLT

[9] Don't lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
