The To-Do List

I used to be such a list person at work. A certain amount of joy came over me when I marked something off my “to-do” list. Some things were quick and easy, while other tasks were more of a project that took time to complete. I had to come to the realization that (due to the nature of the task and lack of time) some things were left undone until the next day (or even the day after that).

If I had a deadline to meet, I had to prioritize which things could be left until the next day. I had to be okay with that. Nothing was worth losing sleep over. There were times I had to remind myself of this in the middle of the night when my mind wouldn’t turn off.

This may sound all too familiar to you today. So many depend on you to get things done, you have little time to just be still for a second (even when you should be sleeping).

Something that comes to mind is today’s wisdom verse from Psalm 46:10. This is what you must do when those “to-do” lists get overwhelming. Do what must be done and know it’s okay for some things to be left undone for today. Take time to just “be still”.

Mark off those tasks, leave some that can wait and clear your mind. Be blessed and know God is there.
