The Rest of the Story

Many are too young to remember Paul Harvey’s radio program. He would begin to relay a story of the day and before the break, he would say, “in a moment, the rest of the story”. When he returned and finished, he would say, “now you know the rest of the story.”
Today, the “story” is the scars, and what we share about them, is “the rest of the story”. When someone has had to suffer either physically or mentally, the scars remain. There is a story behind those scars that needs to be told. That is the testimony.
The most obvious story is that the scar shows healing has taken place.
If you have had an injury to your physical body…What was once an open wound is closed up. If you have gone through some sort of mental trauma, the scar is in your memory. What was once a situation you believed was too much to bear, you came through to the other side.
Allow your tough time to become a testimony of survival for other folks. They may be really going through something horrible and need some assurance that things will get better.
Imagine the hearts of the disciples…their confusion…in a state of shock. They needed some assurance that the terrible ordeal they had just faced, and the suffering that their teacher had endured, was not just a dream (so to speak). They needed the rest of the story.
When Jesus appeared to the disciples after the resurrection, they were able to see the scars and recall the testimony behind those scars. It strengthened their belief in Jesus and His teachings.
Luke 24:40 NKJV
[40] When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.
