The Joy in the Answer

So often we step back and miss a moment in time that has been given to us to enjoy. We pray for God to bless us, and out of fear for the circumstances in which it arrived, or just downright unbelief, we give up the enjoyment of it. It just sounds too astounding to really be true. That unbelief can take the enjoyment and excitement of the moment away.
This was true in Zechariah’s situation in today’s scripture. He and Elizabeth had prayed for a son for many years. When the answer came that this was actually going to happen, it came via an angel.
The first words were, “Don’t be afraid!” He listened to what was said to him but just couldn’t grasp how it was possible. He basically was doubting God. How could this be possible after all these years? The thing is, he was not remembering that nothing is impossible with God.
It did happen. Elizabeth became pregnant with a son that they were to name John (who became known as John the Baptist). Zechariah didn’t get to enjoy those moments the way he could have because of his doubt and unbelief. He became mute until the child was born. How sad. What should’ve been total amazement and awe of the answer to he and his wife’s prayers, turned into a time of silence for nine months.
If you have been believing God for a situation that is so important to you, let the way Zechariah handled the answer be a lesson to you. Don’t allow doubt and unbelief to mess up the joy of the answer.
Luke 1:13 TPT
[13] But the angel reassured him, saying, "Don't be afraid, Zechariah! God is showing grace to you. For I have come to tell you that your prayer for a child has been answered. Your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son and you are to name him John. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
