Stuff Don't Keep Ya Happy

What it does is make ya greedy and want more stuff. Always wanting the latest and greatest and what your neighbor has will get you in trouble. What you don’t see when you see that fancy house and fancy car is payments galore. And by the time someone actually “owns” these things (if they ever do), the stuff is falling apart and just not as exciting.
The chorus to a song from 1992
“Stuff, stuff, stack it on, stack it on up
Stuff, never gonna ever get enough stuff
Oh it's treasure till it's mine, then it ain't worth a dime
It's stuff, oh, spreading like weeds
Dragging me under in an endless sea of stuff
Stuff there ain't no end
Got to get a bigger place, so I can move in
More stuff”
Of course, it’s okay to want and own nice things. What is not okay is being greedy to the point of putting your family into a hardship that is so difficult to get out of. When you are thinking that if you could just get more things, you would be happy…time to redirect. If you are thinking that your kids would love you more if you gave them more…time to redirect.
Our home is a small cottage that suits our needs. It may not have all our “wants” in it, but we are happy and content knowing that we have God in the center. He has provided for us to be debt free and teaching us as we declutter that we have accumulated a lot of unnecessary stuff over the years. We don’t have piles and piles of it like in the song, but enough.
Learning the importance of the lesson that Jesus was teaching in Luke will help to make your life so much better. Your life is not measured by the number of things you possess. When you put riches in front of God, you are walking a tight rope of stuff that could lead to your destruction. Be alert and guard your heart.
Luke 12:15 TPT
[15] Speaking to the people, Jesus continued, "Be alert and guard your heart from greed and always wishing for what you don't have. For your life can never be measured by the amount of things you possess." #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
