“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”. What? Oh yes, they do hurt. Bad!!

We used to say this to the bullies on the playground to preserve our dignity, but we could not have been more wrong.

Words are “killers”.

There are those that have taken their own lives because of words said to them. They have been made to feel “less than”. They were not mentally strong enough to distinguish between the words being tossed at them and their own worth as a human being…God’s creation.

Words of discouragement, of shame, of accusation, of contempt, of guilt, and so many other things that wounds and crushes the spirit of another person should not be treated as okay. This behavior is not acceptable in any way.

Our words should always build up and not tear down. It is sad when that doesn’t happen.

Don’t be someone that goes to church on Sunday raising your hands in worship and praising the Lord with your tongue; and then on Monday use that same mouth/tongue to hurt others. That is not your right. If you are bitter confess that, don’t take it out on those around you.

James 3:9-10 ERV

[9] We use our tongues to praise our Lord and Father, but then we curse people who were created in God's likeness. [10] These praises and curses come from the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, this should not happen. #helpforyourdailywalk #paulaandthebible
