Do we protect the things that are of importance to us? Of course we do! We lock our homes and our cars because we do not want easy entrance to our material possessions.

What about our heart, mind and body? How well do we protect those things? Goodness! Those should be of so much importance that we daily seek out wisdom in protecting them. Your heart, your health and your very life depends on it.

When we start depending on our own wisdom (which amounts to our “feelings “) we are in trouble. But when we depend on the wisdom that comes from God, we can stay on course to live long and strong.

It is so very important to guard our hearts and quit relying on how we “feel”. Instead, we need to rely on what God says about any situation.

Understanding this bit of wisdom from Proverbs and applying it to your life, will determine how well your life goes in the future.

Proverbs 4:20-23 NLT

[20] My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. [21] Don't lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, [22] for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. [23] Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
