“Shut de do, keep out de debil…
Oh, Satan is an evil charmer,
He's hungry for a soul to hurt,
And without your holy armor, listen to me,
He will eat you for dessert, yes, he will.”
Those words to the song by Randy Stonehill were never truer in the case of Judas. He opened the door for the devil to do havoc in his life when he was offended at Jesus.
I used to wonder what could have prompted Judas to betray the one he had followed and then I saw in John 12: 3-7 where he opened that door to offense. He questioned Jesus about Mary using that very expensive perfume on Him when it could be used for the poor. Jesus basically “put Judas in his place” by saying, "Leave her alone. She did this in preparation for my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
After this event, we see in Matthew 26: 14-16 that Judas went to the leading priests to see what they would pay him to betray Jesus. Then he started looking for ways to set the wheels in motion to accomplish this.
Wow! Talk about taking matters into your own hands. Friends, this is exactly what offense can do. When you open the door to offense, you open yourself up to be used by the devil.
Don’t even open that door a crack…keep out the devil…shut it!! He is ready and willing to take any opportunity you give him.
John 13:2 NLT
[2] It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. #helpforyourdailywalk #paulaandthebible
