Set Free

How does someone who’s a Christian seem to struggle to understand what they have? They have read the scriptures about how there is life in the Word, yet they don’t quite “get it”.

I love what it says here in the Passion Translation of Proverbs 4:20-22 “Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you, and pay attention to all that I have to say. Fill your thoughts with my words until they penetrate deep into your spirit. Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being.”

It takes more than just reading the words. You have to pay attention to what is being said and apply it to your life. In other words, “think about it”. You believed in Jesus when He said He gave His life for you. You now have access to an understanding of what you have in Him. That could mean you have to read a verse over and over again to get the full knowledge of how that applies to you.

For instance, in the verses above, change it to be personal to you. “Listen carefully, Paula, to everything that I teach you” …” Paula, fill your thoughts with my words” …and so on. See how that changes the impact for you?

“Jesus said to Paula, who believes in Him, Paula is truly my disciple if she remains faithful to my teachings. Paula will know the truth and the truth (that she knows and understands) will set Paula free”
