Roll Into the New Year

Of course, we have no choice but to step into a new year. It’s here tonight when the clock rolls past midnight. There will be toasts and kisses and all sorts of resolutions.

We all determine in part how our new year will play out. That tribulation part, well, there will be some of that…But. I love using that word when it has something good after it. Not so much when some sort of disaster follows it.

In today’s verse we see a “something good” follow the BUT. “There will be trials and sorrow but take heart”. I love that. Take heart. Why? Because Jesus has overcome the world. He tells us this so that we might have peace.

We too can overcome anything (like Jesus) that comes our way and have peace in that knowledge. As the new year rolls over this evening keep this in mind. Everyone has to face challenges at times. We can not only face them, but we can also overcome them in a big and peaceful way.

John 16:33 NLT

[33] I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."
