Did you know there is a difference between being lazy and being “slothful”? Neither are good traits, but it is important to know that even if you don’t consider yourself to be lazy, you very well could be slothful. Here’s what I mean…
Today’s verse in The King James says, “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” The Passion version helps us understand that word better. It says we’ve become dull and lost our enthusiasm. Who wants to be dull? Not me!
We had a car at one time that for some reason got a film over the headlights and caused the lights to be dull. The light was still there but just wasn’t as bright as it used to be. We had to do some major cleaning for the original brightness to shine through. (We pulled the switch, so to speak, so those lights could do what they were designed to do.)
Many of us “know the right things to do”, but for some reason or other we’ve lost our enthusiasm in doing it. Knowledge is good, but knowledge with enthusiasm to make something happen, is even better.
Ralph Waldo Emerson went a step further by saying, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm!”
Maybe I’m selfish, but I want all God has for me. So, if you are with me…let’s clean the film off and shine like we are supposed to shine.
You know what to do. Pull the Switch!
Hebrews 6:12 TPT
[12] So don't allow your hearts to grow dull or lose your enthusiasm, but follow the example of those who fully received what God has promised because of their strong faith and patient endurance.
