Who is “your” Peter, James and John in your life?
Those were the 3 disciples that were closest to Jesus (his friends). He asked them during THE most agonizing time in His life to come to a garden area to pray with Him. He wasn’t asking them to just pray, but to pray with Him.
He was in such agony and needed them there. They had, up until this point, been the ones depending on Jesus for support and help. But this time Jesus needed them to be there for Him. They let Him down.
I know it is easy to “say” to a friend, “I’ll pray for you.” Have you ever been with one of your closest friends and they shared a troubling situation they are facing, and you stopped right there and prayed “with” them? Has a friend ever been there for you and done the same?
Being willing to pray with our friends is one thing, following through is another. I want to be better at this. If we want our “Peter, James and John” to be there for us, let’s be there for them.
Don’t let your friends down. Stay alert and pray for and with those you love!
Matthew 26:40-41 NLT
[40] Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Couldn't you watch with me even one hour? [41] Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!" #helpforyourdailywalk #paulaandthebible
