Once Upon a Time

That’s how fairytales begin. And we aren’t living in a fairytale right now. We are living in a time that is in a word, crazy. There is confusion around every corner. There are some folks telling us one thing and others telling us something entirely different.

I remember as a kid growing up, there were times we didn’t even lock our doors. But, if we knew there was something dangerous happening in our little town, you better believe we shut the windows and bolted the door. And why would we do such a thing? We were forewarned about what could happen if we didn’t. If authorities were looking for someone that was armed and dangerous, we sure didn’t want them in our home.

Let’s relate this to being prepared for Jesus to come for us. If you have been a Christian for as long as I have, you have heard it said for many years that He could return at any time, so you should always be ready. That still stands true. Since we don’t really know when He will be arriving, we should all search our hearts and make sure we are ready.

If I knew company was on the way, I wouldn’t wait until they arrived to start cleaning and preparing for the visit. I would want to know things were in order and ready before they knocked on the door.

So, how’s your heart? Is it right with Him? If not, do what it takes to get it right. He must be your Lord and Savior. If you haven’t submitted your heart and life to Him, all the other stuff is just busy work.

Luke 12:39-40 NLT

[39] "Understand this: If a homeowner knew exactly when a burglar was coming, he would not permit his house to be broken into. [40] You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected."
