Today most everyone is focused on the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. I want to focus on His appearance to Mary and the disciples and what you believe.

When Jesus died for us, He was placed in a borrowed tomb, that was sealed with a huge stone. The devil thought he could do a victory lap. Nice try bub!!!

When a couple of the disciples and Mary Magdalene went to the tomb that morning, they saw that the stone was not only rolled back away from the opening, but that no one was inside.

After the disciples left, Mary had the first encounter with the risen Savior. She was in tears thinking someone had stolen his dead body. When He said, "Mary”, she realized it was Jesus. He gave her a message for the disciples. Imagine Mary’s mix of emotions…excitement…relief…urgency.

Then Jesus appeared to the disciples except for Thomas. Jesus assured them that it was really Him by showing them His hands and His side. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." Thomas heard the other disciples share their excitement about seeing the Lord, but he wouldn’t believe unless he saw it for himself.

Then about a week later when Thomas was with them, He appeared again. This time He spoke directly to Thomas to help him with His unbelief. He showed him the scars in His hands and side, and Thomas said, “My Lord and my God!”

You haven’t seen the resurrected Jesus with your own eyes like Mary and Thomas, but do you believe? That is where faith comes in and you stand in that faith believing what the Bible says is true. Jesus is the son of God, and you have life everlasting when you believe and confess Him as Lord and Savior.

John 20:29 MSG

[29] Jesus said, "So, you believe because you've seen with your own eyes. Even better blessings are in store for those who believe without seeing."
