Some things about an olive tree:

1. They can live up to 2,000 years (wow)

2. They start bearing fruit at 5 years and continue on

3. Their root system is indestructible

4. They do not need to be watered

5. Large olive trees produce 400 pounds annually

6. They have been around for over 6,000 years

7. It has long been the symbol of peace, wisdom, glory, fertility, power and purity

8. Contain healthy fats, antioxidants and fiber

In today’s verse, David refers to being “like” an olive tree. He will be prosperous (bearing much fruit) and live long. He will be strong and not allow his faith to waver even in the midst of being attacked by those that mean him harm. He seeks to have wisdom that comes from God who gives power to those who continually trust in His unfailing love.

Think about who you’ve trusted in the past. Was that trust misguided and fruitless?

Start today putting your trust in the one that will never fail you. Not just any kind of trust though. Have the “olive tree” kinda of trust…strong and unaffected by outside forces. The kind that knows how much God loves you and wants good for you. The kind that says, “I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.”

Psalm 52:8 NLT

[8] But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God's unfailing love.
