One of the next lines to that Kenny Rogers’ song is…” know when to walk away.” In your connection to other people, that can be difficult (only if we let it be).

You have to become someone that has learned to walk in wisdom every day. Before you put your feet on the floor each morning, you know that the most valuable thing is to have that connection with your Heavenly Father alive and well. Without a relationship with Jesus, you can’t have what it takes to see what’s evil and what’s right and true.

If the folks you associate with are doing harm to your health and your family, revive your prayer life. Prayer is your lifeline to wisdom. It may be time to step away from those that don’t have your best interest in mind. You can still pray for them, and even be around them at times. You just have the understanding that their behavior cannot become an influence on yours. Let them see how positive a life with God can be.

As I’ve said before, God wants good for you. Allow the Him to guide your steps to walk in wisdom.

Ephesians 5:15-17 GW

[15] So then, be very careful how you live. Don't live like foolish people but like wise people. [16] Make the most of your opportunities because these are evil days. [17] So don't be foolish but understand what the Lord wants.
