Growing up, I never gave it a thought as to whether mom and dad would take care of me. I knew they would. How did I know that? They never gave me reason not to believe.

They had always taken care of me and had given me everything I needed to enjoy being that little girl amazed at her tree. At Christmas time when money was tight, they did whatever they needed to do to have the extra money to have a blessed season.

Maybe what we received at that time of year in the form of wrapped presents wouldn’t have been that exciting to some kids, it was awesome to us. The most important ingredient in that upbringing was the love of Jesus and our family. Then, out of what seems like nowhere, we grew up and now we are the adults in the room.

Being an adult means you now have the responsibility to make good choices for you and your family. It’s not all about giving your kids the latest and greatest. It’s about helping them to see what is important and what is not. Yes, showing your love with trinkets and such will bring a small amount of happiness, but, showing your love by always being there and caring for them is the ultimate.

It’s choosing to show your children how to make wise choices daily and to seek after the kingdom. It’s teaching them how much Jesus loves them and wants good for them. It’s helping them understand that worry has no place in their lives. He has always taken care of the “things” (eating, drinking and clothing) …no reason to worry that He would stop now.

You are the adult now, take on that role and seek to teach your children (or those that look up to you) well!

Matthew 6:33 NASB95

[33] But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
