As a continuation of Paul’s instructions to Titus from yesterday. He started with the men and the need for them to have self-control as leaders. But he didn’t stop there.

He wanted Titus to teach the older women to live lives that honor God. When you honor someone, you give them the respect and praise they deserve.

I also thought of another word that we see used alongside the word ‘honor’. That word is commitment. When someone “honors their commitment” to another person, they remember that promise and remain faithful.

A woman that was faithful in honoring a commitment in the scriptures was Ruth. After her husband died, she made a commitment to go wherever her older mother-in-law went and help her.

Ruth honored this promise she made to Naomi and traveled with her to her homeland where they found favor with Boaz. Ruth never wavered in her love for her mother-in-law. She drew her strength from God and listened to any instructions she received from this older woman.

As a result of Ruth’s faithfulness to Naomi, listening to her instructions and finding strength from God; she in time married Boaz and had a son named Obed. Obed had a son named Jesse, as you may recall was the father of David.

So, there you have it! Look how that word, honor, made a difference for so many people.

Honor your commitment to God by being a woman (or man) who lives their lives as a good example of the goodness of God.

Titus 2:3 NLT

[3] Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. #helpforyourdailywalk #paulaandthebible
