If You Believe It; Act Like It

When in collage, one of my courses was “bowling”. Before you laugh, it was not necessarily an easy one (even though I thought it was and why took it).

I will never forget that first day and I did my normal bowling stance and threw it right down the middle. I ended with a score of about 110 or so. I was okay with that and thought that had to impress the instructor. Little did I know I needed some guidance. One of the ladies in the class that seemed to be around 30 (I thought was old then. Haha), did terrible with a score of 35. I was like, “bless her heart.”

Turns out I needed to learn a thing or two about the correct way to bowl. The first time I did it the way instructed, I bowled around 35. Wow. Talk about humbling.

I had to decide to believe what was said and act on it. The teacher instructed the class to hold the ball with your thumb on top, take 3 steps, then release it right next to the gutter with a follow through. Those first few releases weren’t great, (lots of gutter balls) but I improved my game. I was amazed to see what seemed impossible become impressive with a curve of the ball going from the gutter to the center for a strike.

As we walk through our lives, there may be times when it seems, “this can’t be how it is supposed to go!” But we have to trust that “God has us”. He has been there every step of the way. His instructions for living are in the Bible. If something concerns us, He can make it right. His love and mercy endure forever. We have to “know that we know” what the Bible says is true. We have to believe it and act like we believe in how we live. Don’t stay in the gutter when you know there is a win waiting for you.

Turn those impossible situations into impressive ones.

Psalm 138:7-8 NKJV

[7] Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me. [8] The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
