Gossiping About Life

Most times we don’t think that we are spreading gossip when we are sharing about our own lives with others. I have come to realize and understand this is one of the worst forms of gossip. This has to stop if there is ever hope of reconciliation…true…all in…heartfelt reconciliation.

How do you stop this cycle of homegrown gossip? It all starts in how you think. There is a word that we don’t keep in our everyday vocabulary and use on a daily basis. We need to learn it and practice it with not only strangers but with family. That word is EXHORT! It can be interchanged with the word encourage.

Stop those negative thoughts (that turn into negative sharing) and replace with exhortation about someone or something. As Joyce Meyer puts it, “Do some ‘love thinking’ on purpose”.

Quit putting your family’s “bidness” (family junk) out there for the world to hear and see. Some don’t quite grasp how to pray about a situation only. They may decide to share with others (gossip) with no intention of being a conduit of prayer. They may even indicate they shared, so others could pray. Not sure I believe that.

With all that said, here’s my point. There is a fine line between sharing and gossiping. And we ARE supposed to share one another’s burdens. But, keep in mind, sharing your world WITHOUT your heart and mind being in the right place, just becomes fodder for the enemy. Think encouraging thoughts about your situation and commit it to prayer. Don’t allow the gossiping crowd access to this matter that needs a miracle.

Philippians 4:8-9 NLT

[8] And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. [9] Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. #helpforyourdailywalk #paulaandthebible
