Feeling Safe

Our television is inundated by so many things that chip away at our sense of safety. There are abductions, murders, riots, churches threatened, threats of violence on every turn and add into that the programming we CHOOSE to watch with all the above and we have a recipe for fear for our own safety.

Many years ago, for a short time (not anymore) Bobby and I watched a show called “Criminal Minds” that caused us to see things differently. On a trip, we would see a person on the side of the road changing a tire and we would say, “there’s a ‘Criminal Minds’ waiting to happen.” We stopped watching that type of programming because it was really an awful way to see life and it was so gory. I am sure those types of things happen, but we don’t have to put them in the forefront of our minds. Most of us should get a grip on how much and what we watch on tv…even the news we watch. Who we listen to and how much of it affects us more than we realize. So much deception from all of it.

Our focus and desire need to be on the Lord. All the other things are a distraction to keep us in a state of fear and concern. I’m not minimizing what others have had to face by no means. There are heartbreaking events every single day, most we aren’t even aware of…but are there, nonetheless. The best way to face it all is remembering the Lord is your refuge and trust that His safety is all encompassing and that He is faithful.

Here are some words from a song sung by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. “The Prayer” Look it up on YouTube…it is worth the listen.

Let this be your prayer today.

“I pray you'll be our eyes, and watch us where we go

And help us to be wise in times when we don't know

Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way

Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace

To a place where we'll be safe”

Psalm 91:2,4 NLT

This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. [4] He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
