Even in the natural aging process we can continue to grow into Gods best. Some older folks tend to think because that yearly number has increased, they are just going to settle in and be an “old (excuse me but it’s true) fart”.

We, that are in the older generation, should actually be just the opposite of that. We should be an example to the younger generations of how sweet it is to grow older. It should not be something that is dreaded, but something that is celebrated.

I am reminded of the chorus of a song we used to sing…

“Oh, it gets sweeter as the days go by

It gets sweeter as the moments fly

His love is richer, deeper, fuller, sweeter

Sweeter, as the days go by”

Sure, there are some aches and pains that you didn’t have to deal with as a teenager, but the Lord Jesus is your source for those too. He took all of that to the cross and carried them so that you don’t have to. Renew your mind (even if you think you’ve already arrived). We are never too old to be influenced by the world. We need to think the thoughts that help us determine what God wants. I like the way it is stated in today’s scripture.

You will be able to determine that what He wants is good, pleasing and perfect. I don’t think any of us can top that, even you ‘ole farts!

Romans 12:2 GW

[2] Don't become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants-what is good, pleasing, and perfect.
