Do Right

This is a big one today. Doing what you know is right. Not following the crowd. Doing something because it’s the right thing to do, not just going with “feelings”.

Sinning is not always something you do, but something you don’t do. Knowing the right thing to do and NOT doing it can ruin your character and trustworthiness for a really long time. Losing trust is so difficult to gain back. Folks stop listening to you in the same way. They wonder if you are being straight with them.

If you are like me, you have already messed up in this category and are still in the process of rebuilding what has been torn down. I’m not saying it can’t be done; it is just better if you never go down that road in the first place.

Also…When it comes to your business or your place of employment doing the right thing is so important. You can’t throw ethics to the wind and expect to be successful. You want to work or have a business that is run on solid ethical principles.

Those unethical people who operate as an employer or an employee in business can be successful for a time, but it eventually catches up to them. I’ve read stories of folks that were caught embezzling money from their employer and were arrested and sent to jail. My first thought is usually, “how in the world did they think they could do that, and it not eventually catch up with them”. It appears to be a no-brainer to me.

Then I think of my personal life and how I’ve operated in a way that would seem as though I’d lost my mind. I may not have been taking money that wasn’t mine, but I was hurting others by just avoiding doing the right thing.

Every day is made up of choices. Simply weigh them against right or wrong. Will it help or hurt others. If you have already chosen in the wrong way and are in the process of making things right, stay strong and pray for God’s grace and direction.

James 4:17 ERV
