Do Over

“Can it be that it was all so simple then? Or has time re-written every line? If we had the chance to do it all again, tell me, would we? Could we?” ~Alan & Marilyn Bergman
Do these words ring true to you? Are you wishing and hoping for a “do over” in your life? You may not be able to go back to the way things “used to be”, but with Gods help you can start where you are and move forward into His best for you.
The woman who was caught in the act of adultery was brought to Jesus to be stoned. But instead of having the teachers and Pharisees get on with it, Jesus said “those that have no sin in your life can throw the first stone”.
We know that there was no one among them without any sin…so this woman was given a “do over”. Jesus asked her if anyone had found her guilty? She told him “No one”. The next words He said to her were action words. John 8:11b, "Neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more!” It was time for her to press in to living right and follow Him.
The way that all went down had to have given such hope and determination to this woman. Jesus showed mercy and love to her situation but also wanted her to do her part. He didn’t condemn her in this moment. He wanted her to do the right thing. He told her to “Go” and “sin no more.” He wanted her to quit settling for this kind of life.
If you have things in your life that are less than exemplary, you can have a “do over.” But you have to do your part. You have to bring those things in front of Jesus and confess they are wrong. He won’t condemn you. He will forgive you and wants you to go and be the person He created you to be.
Don’t waste your life being stubborn and following your own way of being and doing. Let Him direct your every step. He won’t steer you in the wrong direction.
Proverbs 3:5-6 ERV
[5] Trust the LORD completely, and don't depend on your own knowledge. [6] With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
