Declarations

In the south, we have a saying, “Well, I declare!” Most of the time we say it out of surprise of something or someone. “Well, I declare, look who’s come to visit!”

The word "declare" means to announce something clearly, firmly, publicly, or officially. For example, "They declared their support for the proposal".

Have you ever made declarations over your own life?

Maybe you just needed some affirmation that you really did know what you were talking about. Someone doubted you, and you said (maybe out loud even) “That’s what I was saying, I do know a thing or two!” That may sound silly in a way, but you are making the declaration that you know something.

I want to take it a step further today and talk about intentional declarations that could bring some positive results for you this year. Really, they could help you for the rest of your life.

I ask you first to get the negative “self-talk” out. You are personally a collection of what you say about yourself. If you desire others to see the good/great in you, see it in yourself and declare it out loud. Show it in the way you “carry” yourself.

As a child of God, you have His Spirit within you to help you accomplish the things that some may not even have an inkling is possible. But you know they are, because you believe what has been taught to you through the Bible. If you are still having trouble in this area, pick up that Bible and read it. Read some good books that give you biblical truths. Ask for understanding and see how confusion changes to “I get it!”

The only way to learn the important truths to carry you through life, is to be open and teachable. If you think you already “know it all”. That is where your learning stops.

Start declaring “I am teachable, I am open, I am learning. Then listen to the right people. Don’t be someone that just follows what the wind brings your way. If they aren’t true to the Bible…what they say isn’t worth listening to.

1 Corinthians 2:13-14 ERV

[13] When we say this, we don't use words taught to us by human wisdom. We use words taught to us by the Spirit. We use the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. [14] People who do not have God's Spirit do not accept the things that come from his Spirit. They think these things are foolish. They cannot understand them, because they can only be understood with the Spirit's help. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
