Being Wise

Although most depictions of Jesus being born show the wisemen at the manger with the shepherds, that was not the case. They did come and see him, but when they did, he was a young child (maybe about 2?). It also doesn’t say there were just 3 of them.
You see from today’s verse, that they “came into the house, they saw the young child”. They had been sent by King Herod to find the one that everyone was talking about. The one that was born as “the Messiah” “King of the Jews”. It was that “King of the Jews” part that upset Herod so much. He wanted Him hunted down and done away with. As a matter of fact, he had ordered any children 2 and under murdered.
When the wisemen saw Jesus, they didn’t go back to tell Herod where He was. Instead, they fell down and worshiped Him. They gave Him extravagant gifts. They had recognized Jesus as not just another child born in Bethlehem, but as the promised Messiah. Someone that deserved their worship.
We should all be wise men and women and recognize who Jesus is and be willing to go against (if need be) those that want to slander His name. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is great and mighty and worthy to be praised. We should offer up our lives as gifts to Him.
Matthew 2:11 KJV
[11] And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. #paulaandthebible #paulaandthebible
