Being Tempted

How many of us have made impulse decisions (deciding on something too quickly, without any thought)? When that happens, you have more than likely fell into the trap of giving into a temptation. Being tempted simply means “to want to do something that is unnecessary or wrong.”

I have been impulsive more times than I would want to admit. One of those is going to a buffet and “pigging out” to the point of being miserable. The food was there, and it was delicious. There was nothing wrong with having buffet food. Where it went south was overeating just because it looked and tasted so good. Overeating was so unnecessary. I became unhealthy and overweight.

We, so often, make quick decisions that can cause problems for us. If we would just learn that we don’t need this or that “right now” or maybe don’t “need” it at all…could be so helpful. Learning the art of recognizing something as just a temptation and not a need can save us so much trouble, headaches and heartburn.

We all have temptations. As a Christian, we have an advantage over those unneeded situations. We can depend on God to show us a way to escape the temptation and be better for having made the right choice.

1 Corinthians 10:13 CEV

[13] You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations. #paulaandthebible #helpforyourdailywalk
